STEPHEN LIN, Venture Partner – China & S.E. Asia
Stephen Lin is a successful entrepreneur and corporate executive who brings to Mobility Ventures over 25 years of experience in building successful high tech companies in China and throughout Asia. He has solid experience in P&L, running R&D, Financial mgmt, Sales & Marketing, M&A investment, and creating several China Joint Ventures. His broad expertise extends across a wide range of semiconductor, power management, telecom, industrial automation, alternative energy, internet, and wireless technologies.
Stephen has held executive management positions at many Multi National Corporations, matured start-ups, and as co-founder of companies in the areas of Multimedia solutions, TVoM, Power management, Handset/Tablet IDH, NFC based Apps, Social Media/SaaS, Wireless & NGN infrastructures, LED Power Mgmt, and IP Surveillance/HD-1080p companies with several successful M&A exits.
Prior to making venture and PE investments, Stephen was vice president and general manager, BU of mobile and personal entertainment, Greater China at Philips Semiconductor and also a board member of T3G, a joint venture of Datang Mobile, Motorola Ventures, and Samsung Mobile. Under his leadership, T3G become the leading supplier of dual mode TD-SCDMA/GSM and 4G FDD/TDD-LTE platforms in China with design wins at Tier one OEMs including Huawei, ZTE, Samsung, Motorola, and Nokia. Stephen was voted “Influence 100” by the handset industry for his contribution in China.
Stephen also served as the VP & GM with Audiocodes Ltd., an IP packet based products such as NGN, broadband access, and CPE devices. During his tenure at AudioCodes, Stephen built a successful green field P&L operation achieved in Asia Pacific with an extraordinary growth rate.
Previously, Stephen was president and managing director of Intel/Dialogic Asia Ltd. Under Lin’s leadership, Dialogic Asia Ltd. achieved 50% of global revenue from a green field operation prior M&A with INTC. Prior to Dialogic, he was the vice president and chief operating officer of Siemens AG in China, where he managed and executed business strategy P&L of the advanced communications products that resulted in a significant revenue growth in Greater China markets. During the early 1980s, Stephen was an ASIC business development and design manager with LSI Logic in California.
Stephen holds a BSEE and MSEE degrees from McGill University, Canada as well as an MBA from Santa Clara University, California. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and has a working knowledge of French. He has presented numerous papers at major industry conferences and is widely published in technical journals.
