Mobility Ventures Appoints Wireless Industry Veteran & Start-up Specialist David Sym Smith as Venture Partner & Executive-in-Residence

January 24, 2012, Dallas, TX – Mobility Ventures, a leading global venture capital and advisory firm, today announced the appointment of David Sym-Smith as Venture Partner and Executive-in-Residence. Sym-Smith will be a member of the company’s executive team and will oversee all aspects of emerging technology investments and advisory services.

Prior to joining Mobility Ventures, Sym-Smith served as Chief Marketing Officer at Tele Atlas, where he managed global marketing, strategic planning, and product development for this leading global provider of digital maps and other dynamic content. Company doubled in size and was sold to Tom Tom. Sym-Smith also served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at mobile device management leader InnoPath Software, where he developed the company’s strategic roadmap and helped significantly increase its market share to become the dominant provider. He also has held senior positions at Command Audio, Aerial Communications (now T-Mobile USA), Sprint Spectrum (now Sprint Nextel), CellularOne (now AT&T Wireless), and GTE MobileNet (now Verizon Wireless) and has worked as a management consultant at The Hay Group.

Sym-Smith graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a BA in Economics and International Business and holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Pennsylvania State University. He is based at the firm’s headquarters in Addison, TX.
