InnerWireless Selected by Foote Health System To Support Wireless Telemetry And Other Wireless Applications

nnerWireless’ Horizon distributed antenna system provides a reliable, engineered wireless infrastructure that guarantees coverage for multiple devices and applications

RICHARDSON, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–InnerWireless®, Inc., the leading provider of in-building wireless solutions, today announced that it will deploy its broadband, wireless infrastructure, called Horizon, at the Foote Health System campus, located in Jackson, Mich. With Horizon, the 411-bed hospital will have guaranteed wireless coverage for mission- and life-critical wireless services and devices including cellular phones, VoIP, 802.11 a/b/g and wireless medical telemetry service (WMTS) for uninterrupted monitoring of patient vital signs.

Clinicians can now access patient information wirelessly via VoIP phones, computers on wheels, laptops and other devices from anywhere in the hospital, and with InnerWireless, we no longer have spotty VoIP coverage, so everyone is reachable.

“The flexibility of the InnerWireless system really put us in the driver’s seat for choosing which technologies we wanted to utilize now and into the future,” said Edward Andrews, network manager at Foote Health System. “Horizon was the best solution for eliminating holes in the wireless coverage, and its scalability and meticulous engineering really stood out to us. It was critical that the wireless infrastructure we chose provide ultra-reliable coverage for our enterprise-housewide WMTS patient monitoring system, along with other wireless applications and devices, without requiring multiple system installations and constant maintenance by our biomedical staff.”

By integrating WMTS telemetry on the InnerWireless system, Foote Health System executives created an enterprise patient monitoring solution where patient vital signs can be continuously monitored anywhere in the facility from a centralized location to provide a higher level of care.

“Installing the InnerWireless infrastructure laid the foundation for how Foote Health System plans to use wireless technology to not only advance the patient care we provide, but also equip our clinical and administrative staff with wireless tools that will increase productivity and make communication more efficient and effective,” said Rick Warren, vice president and CIO of Foote Health System. “Clinicians can now access patient information wirelessly via VoIP phones, computers on wheels, laptops and other devices from anywhere in the hospital, and with InnerWireless, we no longer have spotty VoIP coverage, so everyone is reachable.”

Foote Health System is known for its dedication to providing quality care and customer service, and with wireless devices supported by Horizon’s guaranteed coverage, clinicians can fulfill ordinary tasks, such as charting information and ordering labs, directly at the bedside on wireless devices, increasing their time and interaction with patients. Prior to InnerWireless, caregivers often had to search for signals in hallways, and the IS staff dealt with channel interference issues.

“The InnerWireless system provides a future-adaptable platform to enable Foote Health System’s execution of their enterprise patient monitoring and mobile care strategies,” said Rick Gentry, vice president of healthcare for InnerWireless. “Horizon is designed to accommodate each customer’s unique set of wireless needs, and we are very excited to work with Foote Health System to support their communication and patient-care goals.”
